 | Where can we clean our catch?
We built an enclosed fish cleaning facility in the spring of 2004. Tables tops are made of high density polyurethane (cutting board).There is enough room for 4 to 6 people cleaning at a time. J-Bar Staff will take care of the scrapes.

| Tell me about accomodations?
J-Bar cabins are spacious and clean. We have daily maid service, fully stocked kitchens and provide all linens. The only thing you will need to bring is your food & drinks. |
| Where is Empire, Louisiana?
Empire is a small fishing village located 60 miles South of New Orleans and 20 North of Venice. J-Bar Sportsman's Lodge is bordered by the Mississippi River to the East and interior bays of the Gulf of Mexico to the West. |
| Do you offer Guide Service?
Yes, Capt. Jeff Johnson, the owner of J-Bar, provides a chater service at J-Bar. We also have many other local guides that work with J-Bar when needed. We can arrange trips for 2 to 20 people. |
| Do I need a large boat to fish in Empire?
The inshore fishing around Empire is shallow and protected. Many fishermen bring their 16'aluminum bass boats. |
| Is there any offshore fishing areas avilable from Empire?
Empire has very good offshore fishing. The first good offshore rigs are only 7 miles from the coast. |
| What do I need to bring on a Charter Fishing Trip?
Food, drinks, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. Camera and/or video recorders are alot of fun as well. Tackle is provided but if you have a favorite rod bring it along. |
| We would like to go offshore while we are there?
There are many offshore charter services available in Empire & Venice. We can help you arrange a trip if needed. |
| Where can I buy fishing license?
Fishing licenses can be purchased off the internet at www.LA Licensing @GreatLodge.com. For charted fishing trip, contact your Captain for his Charter License number so you can purchase a charter pass which is a little more economical. |
| We do not want to cook, are there any good resturants?
Absolutely, there several excellent Seafood and Oyster Bars within 5 minutes of J-Bar. Just ask any of our staff for directions. |
| What does J-Bar stand for?
J-Bar is the Johnson family ranch brand that has been in the family for over 120 yrs. We are no longer in the cattle business but we are still proud of our heritage. For those interested in Western history, Lynn Johnson can provide tours through his mini-museum upon request. |
